So, I've decided to post the Diary of a Lagos-based Runs girl here.
So you guys have to follow and comment.... Don't forget to share in too
.
.
EPISODE 1
See, I told Tony, I don't want us to relocate to Lagos,
Lagos is for strong-willed people. For people who
know what they want. And what it can give them.
But Tony, my darling Tony, being the man that he is,
refused.
"how can you tell me what to do? Eh Nkechi?" He
mused
"it is my job to make decisions in this relationship. If
I say we must go to Lagos, Lagos we must go!" He
finalised.
Okay, I have no say in the matter. I will be married to
Tony soon, so I'd better curb my anger and just learn
how to be docile.
If not, I'll incite the wrath of my father.
Hmm, that man, since he met Tony, it hasn't been
easy for me. If I want to cough, "have you told Tony?"
Tony this, Tony that. Anyway, this is the least of my
worries. I am sure he is very happy to let me travel to
another land, as long as I'm with Tony. Hmmm,
Odiegwu!
We leave tomorrow morning from Owerri, I'm
excited and at the same time filled with trepidation.
What does life hold in store for me and 'Sweetie?'
02 04 2003
Dear Diary
This journey is long o. Ogini k'imere? Ahn ahn? Who
send me? I can't even write well sef.
Anyways, I'm hungry and the only thing Sweetie could
afford is Aki. He claims we have to get to Lagos with
sizable money so we don't get stranded. Abuchi,
Tony's friend that we're going to stay with has been
calling. He wants to know if we've gotten to Berger. I
have no idea where that is, but I pray we get there
soon. I'm exhausted.
Dear Dairy,
We just got to Abuchi's house o! My mouth is agape!
See TV! See rooms eh! Nna mehn, this guy is
swimming in money o! Ego putuputu!
He even has this large bowl of water outside the
house. He says it's a mini river.
I'm not tired anymore because I am seeing really
beautiful things.
Ahhhh! See the kitchen? Hmm! I pray Sweetie gets
this kind of house for us soon.
Finally I get to my room, I and Sweetie have different
rooms, I don't like it but I can't complain. Abuchi is
very generous.
I can't wait for the new day. Sleepy..
Ahdbfheidbwkqkwo---
I Wake up feeling good. See time o! 12pm! How did
that happen? I have never slept till 7am in Owerri
before! It must be the change of Town. I'm hungry,
but as I decide to climb down from this big bed I
notice food by the bed side. Ha! Is this how they treat
people in Lagos? I hungrily pounce on the food. A
very delicious meal of Friend rice and chicken.
Chineke dalu! This food is nice o!
As I battle with my chicken lap, Abuchi walks in. Chei!
I forgot to lock the door last night o! What if I was
naked? Now I'm thankful I was too tired to take off
my clothes.
"ah, Nkechi I can see you're really farmished"
He exclaims and I nod my assent. My mouth is full
with chicken, so I can't make a coherent sound.
He understands, and as he is about to leave he says:
"Nkechi, Please freshen up, I would like to take you
out to shopping. You're clothes are not looking nice.
You need to bring out that wonderful shape you have.
I wish you were mine o, Maka Chukwu!"
Just like that, and the chicken in my mouth turned to saw dust.
