Dear Diary
I don't understand. I just don't understand. What did
I witness yesterday?
Chineke God! What did I carry my eyes to see?
My life is over! Chai! My own has finished! What do I
tell my father? How will I keep my mouth?
What will I tell my people? That Sweetie is doing
man?
Hmm!
12pm
Abuchi walks into my room, I look around and notice
he's locking the door. I wonder why. What can't he
tell me with the door open? Eh?
Okay, I've shifted to the edge of my bed. I'm on a
jeans and what Sweetie calls a 'halter neck' top.
So I pretend I did t notice him locking the door. My
heart is hammering in my chest. What does he want
now?
He gets to where I'm sitting, and sits beside me.
He wants to talk and I just lose it.
"for how long Abuchi? Eh? For how long?"
"so you mean you are homo? You and Sweetie have
been doing unaselves okwaya?"
He looks as if he wants to cry, I don't mind him o. I
rant and rant and rant. Everything on my mind I say
it. "How do I tell my father now? Eh? What will I tell
mpa? That the man I want to marry is a-" a nock on
the door interrupts me.
Abuchi stands quickly to get it. I'm pacing now.
Thoughts running scattered in my head.
I see Sweetie entering the room with juice. He
doesn't look happy. When he gets to me, he kneels
down and start begging. That it's his first time! That I
should forgive him it won't happen again.
I love Sweetie, I can't be angry with him for long. So I
forgive him. I tell him we must leave Abuchi's house.
He agrees and pours juice in a cup for me. I'm rather
thirsty. I've been talking too much today.
I sip the juice tentatively. Mango juice. Very delicious.
I take huge gulps. And Sweetie is looking relieved. I
finish my juice and sit down.
Then I notice Abuchi hasn't said anything since
Sweetie entered. I wonder if they're quarreling.
I wonder if mpa will believe me.
I wonder if I will... I'm feeling sleepy. Why? I'm dozing
off. My thoughts a little mushy... I wonder what Sweetie... BLANK
